肺脓疡是因多种病原菌引起的肺部感染，早期为化脓性肺炎，继而坏死，形成脓疡。此病属中医的“肺痈”范畴，其因为外感风热病毒，熏蒸于肺，蓄热内蒸，肺受热灼，热壅血瘀，郁结成痈，血败化脓，表现为咳则胸痛，吐痰腥臭，甚则咳吐脓血。

宜忌原则
由于肺脓疡多属肺热内蒸所致，故其饮食宜忌原则为，宜吃清淡性寒，清肺化痰的食品，宜吃清淡蔬菜和新鲜水果。忌吃温热性食物，忌吃荤腥滋腻或温补性食物，忌吃煎炸炒爆的食物，忌吃辛辣刺激性食物，禁烟酒。
